Getting your own snowboard apparel makes sense for certain items but is not always a wise option for other items until you know exactly what you want. This article will cover what you really need when first snowboarding and what is nice to have but not essential. Ok, if your budget is really tight or maybe you are just checking out snowboarding then I would advise you rent most of the apparel. And pretty much most of the apparel can be rented. Big purchases should be rented first as this gives you the option to try before you buy.

So equipment like boots and the snowboard are best rented at first. You may also chose to rent a brand or model of board before purchasing it to take it for a test drive so to speak. This way you will know if you like it or it suits your style. People also hire things like goggles and helmets because they are not always needs and are dependent on the weather and type of snowboarding you will be doing.

People even hire snow jackets and pants sometimes but most prefer to buy these types of apparel because they can be used generally rather than being specifically for snowboarding hence justifying the cost a bit more. This next list of items would be nice to have but not essential until you have fallen in love with the sport.

If you suffer from the cold you will also need some under layers to keep you warm. Maybe cold weather underwear and a fleece. Don’t forget the sunscreen too. Your face will need plenty of sunscreen on during a days snowboarding. Your arms may also be exposed if the weather is mild.

When it comes to finding the right apparel you can look in the sports shops or even department stores for the general stuff like the snow jacket and the gloves. The boots and bindings will be found at a good sports store or even a specialist snowboard shop. Shopping in the off season is always a good idea because you can bargain a bit harder on last years snowboard.

A popular way to shop for some snowboard apparel is on the internet. There are many ski and snowboard stores that have great selections of apparel at reasonable prices. Of course it is often hard to shop for certain items online as you need to get a feel for them or try them one. However if you know what you want an online snowboard shop can offer good prices.

for smaller apparel like gloves, hats and scarve you could even take alook at the internet auctions. There are great prices to be found on ebay but factor in shipping costs if you are comparing like for like.

Once you have all your snowboard apparel you are ready to start the fun. If you are new it may take a bit of time to get the basic skills down. When you have these skills there will be no looking back in your snowboarding adventures.
